Optimisation Studies

Backup, NAS and SAN Optimisation Studies are medium-term (5-10 days) exploratory engagements. 

Fundamentally, these studies are about maximising the Return on Investment (ROI) of current infrastructure - working assets harder and where possible delaying future acquisitions. Their aim is to deliver measureable service improvement in terms of increased efficiencies, performance and reliability. Where immediate investment is needed, it is a tactical spend to fix an urgent problem. Organisations will usually be experiencing operational difficulties in multiple areas and/or tactical challenges such as short-notice budget cuts.

Optimisation Studies have four main objectives: 

• Highlight where configurations and performance have become misaligned with design objectives and business requirements
• Report on the current Service Catalogue
• Identify orphaned and under-utilised resources and recommend actions to improve performance and increase efficiencies
• Make preliminary recommendations on future 'tipping points' where the introduction of a new technology or service will deliver a significant benefit
