Strategic Reviews

Backup and Storage Strategic Reviews are long-term (20+ days) planning and acquisition engagements where the technologies underpinning a service will be fundamentally changed.

The aim is to deliver significant service improvement and reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of a service over a defined period of time - normally three years. This type of engagement is appropriate where an organisation is preparing for a large-scale technology refresh and needs assistance with articulating the challenges facing the service, sizing an appropriate solution and understanding the pros and cons of different manufacturer/vendor’s implementations. Where it is needed, the consultancy will help construct the business case, cost profiles and manage manufacture/vendor relationships on the organisation’s behalf.

Strategic Reviews have six key objectives:

  • Understand and document the challenges faced by the current service offering
  • Establish a baseline for performance prior to the commencement of any transition work
  • Design a new modular solution (which is based on functionality rather than technology) where increased investment is clearly linked to improvements in a new Service Catalogue
  • Guide the organisation through product and vendor selection processes
  • Document the potential improvements and formulate the business case
  • Create a roadmap for the infrastructure refresh and data migration that will deliver service improvement with minimal disruption
